We learned a valuable lesson yesterday. The Little One turned one on Friday and we had her b-day party yesterday. Of course, she had to have a piece of her birthday cake- which also happened to be the first time she EVER ate cake or anything with sugar, for that matter. Though it seemed like a wonderful idea at the time, we later realized why cake is a bad thing. At 11:00 at night, my wife and I were absolutely exhausted and were practically passed out on the couch and the Little One was in her playpen, grabbing onto the side of it, squealing with excitement as she was head-banging non-stop like an 80’s rocker. I repeat: cake BAD.
Strangely enough, The Little One had another major accomplishment. Over the last week or so, she has taken a step or two, but nothing that could actually be called walking. But now that she is one, and a Big Girl, and possibly driven by the sugar overload, The Little One chased her balloons around the room.
As you can see, it was a big and productive day. I thought it would make me sad to see her growing up so fast, but all it did was fill me with pride.
